Escolas hosts works in competition by Spanish students. It is a section designed both for them to show their work in a professional context and to develop programming discourses, management strategies and coordination.

This year the selection and curatorship of the section is the responsibility of the Arte.Facto collective, made up of five young people who have studied at UVigo.

The consequences of humanity’s footprints on the planet are part of an era, the Anthropocene era. From 18 to 23 October, the contemporary audiovisual art festival Intersección will host a wide range of different artists who will express, through video and installation techniques, their perspectives on this theme.

The instinct of the human race to survive and expand underlies the structure of civilisation itself and encompasses every small movement and action that is exercised on Earth. Cause, Consequence is a proposal designed to reflect on the various observations that orbit around this question and, therefore, names the 5th call of its Escolas section. In this edition, the cultural association Arte.facto will be in charge of the curatorship and, thus, the selection of the pieces that make up the festival. In this way, a defined theme is proposed within the limits of the general concept that defines the festival this year.

Arte.facto is a collective project that works as an intersectional system for collecting, channelling and preserving the creativity of young people. Composed of recent graduates in Fine Arts: Marta Gil Silva, Juncal Castro Vázquez, Uxía González Fernández, Antía Encisa González and Iris Rodríguez Justo. It seeks the creation of exhibition spaces, exchange and knowledge of emerging artists. It also collaborates with different institutions to create a bridge between them and the public. One of its key objectives is to bring art closer to all types of guilds.

As for the final selection proposal for the Escolas section, this will include the participation of 9 artists and 2 collectives, representing, on the one hand, the single-channel pieces (Georgina Torrado, Paula González García, María Lorente, Tamara Goberna and a collaboration between María Fialho and Cora Novoa), and, on the other hand, the installations (Lucía Perdiz, Alejandro López Mera, Clara Borrazás, Celia Joglar Aracil, Lola Covadonga Rodríguez and another collaboration between Gerardo Tomé, Alba González, Aiztol Zubirraeta, Amaia Bargallo, Xavier Martín and Ibán del Campo). The Luís Seoane Foundation will host and exhibit the video-installation pieces, while the single-channel pieces will have a screening session.
