Emilio Pemjean

bio

He conceives his work from an interdisciplinary framework by connecting architecture, painting, sculpture, video or photography. In his projects, he reflects on time, the present and the missing, memory, what has been destroyed or transformed, the representation systems and most especially on the capability to convert objects and architecture into symbols through their manipulated reconstruction. He balances his career as a visual artist with his labor as an architect, teacher and researcher.
His work has been awarded on several occasions on a national and international level; it is present in both public and private collections and it has been exhibited in places such as the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo MAC-Coruña, Centro Párraga Centro de arte – Murcia, Musée de L’Elysée Lausanne, Palacio Cardenal Zalazar Universidad de Córdoba, Arsenale di Venezia, Circo Braga – Portugal, Mois de la Photo Off – París Photo, Colegio de España Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris and Museo de las Artes Ciudad de Mexico, among others.
