Alba Villar

Alba Villar (Cedeira, 1992) Stage director, scriptwriter and documentary maker. She holds a degree in stage direction and dramaturgy from the ESADg. She has two plays of her own creation; Paradies 1933 and Azul Nonmesquezas. She furthered her training with a Master’s Degree in Film Screenwriting and TV Series at the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid, a course in Documentary Filmmaking at the Lens School of Visual Arts in Madrid and the Seminar Visions of Experimental Film with P. Adams Sitney at the Reina Sofía Museum, among others. She worked in the direction and editing of radio plays for the programme “A pegada do eco”; as assistant director in the theatre company @mandaubicación with the play #aboutlastnight, by Olivia Delcan and produced by Bella Batalla, a co-production of Coven fils and Méjico.tv or as director’s advisor and audiovisual creator for the play Nico/Icon by Sandra Arpa. She has won three Xuventudecrea awards in the speciality of video creation with Alborada in 2017; Sedimento in 2018, premiered at Cineteca de Madrid, and Quebec Delta in 2021. In October 2022, she directed and wrote the play Outrota Nós with the Galician physical theatre company Mevadeus, which premiered at the Auditorio del Concello de Vigo. She is currently developing several theatrical and audiovisual projects both personally and in collaboration with other creators.
