Pasaia Bitartean

— Galician premiere —

HD video | Sound | Color | 51’ | 2014

The starting point of Pasaia Bitartean is the architectural project that Jonander Agirre Mikelez carried out in 2013 under the same title. As a result of the search for other methodologies to think about the city and its common spaces, the idea arose of articulating this project in a cinematographic code.
The film seeks to appreciate the present of Pasaia and, in turn, thinks of the city as a continent of memory. Work as a productive activity is opposed to work as a museum activity; tourists traversing a declining industry as part of a cruise ship journey; or hardcore bands that collect the sound witness of that same industry make up some of the elements through which this film captures the urban and industrial landscape of Pasaia.

Pasaia Bitartean

Pasaia Bitartean is a filmic approach to the urban fabric of Pasaia, a municipality in which the main commercial port of Guipúzcoa is located. Its industrial and urban fabric grew and was structured around the activity of the port that, from the crisis of the 70s and up to the present, has been declining.
