Mariana Caló and Francisco Queimadela


Mariana Caló and Francisco Queimadela, graduated in Painting at the Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto and have collaborated as a duo since 2010. Their practice is developed through a privileged use of the moving image, crossing installation and site-specific environments, but also screen printing, drawing, painting, photography and sculpture.
They have exhibited in spaces such as the MAAT in Lisbon or the Museu de Serralves in Porto and their films have been screened at different national and international festivals. Winners of the first edition of the Paulo Cunha e Silva Award in 2018, and of the Schermo dell’arte Film Festival award in 2013.

Explanation of Light

Explanation of Light, is made up of two programs curated by the Portuguese-Spanish researcher, curator and cultural manager Leonor Lloret (Appleton Associação Cultural). The first one is a collective session and the second is dedicated to the artist Catarina Vasconcelos, in such a way that both generate a poetic and subtle revision of what binds us to others and to the world, of home and time from multiple points of view.
