The artist Cillas Rodríguez will carry out the realization and practical demonstration of the operation of different optical devices: The traumatrope and the magic lantern: What they are, how they work, what elements make them up, what are their optical and artistic properties.

Cillas Rodríguez (1988) is a visual artist who lives and works in A Coruña, Spain. She graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Vigo in 2011 and in 2014 finishes her master’s degree in Contemporary Artistic Practices from the University of Porto. Throughout her artistic career she has participated in several group and individual exhibitions both in Porto and in other European cities: “Hidden in the center” (Brussels, 2011), “Traza urbana” (A Coruña, 2012), “NowHere” (Oporto, 2014). In 2012 she receives the Artistic Studies Improvement Grant from the Deputation of A Coruña and was awarded at the XI Biennial of Laxeiro Painting in 2013. Later, in 2015 intervenes in the workshop “Creación de Lanternas Mágicas e dispositivos ópticos” Creative Development Project of MAC Museum of Contemporary Art Gas Natural Fenosa (A Coruña). In 2017, his work was acquired by the Collection of the Deputación da Coruña at the XIII Isaac Díaz Pardo exhibition. He also collaborates with the XX International Biennial of Art of Cerveira (Portugal) in 2018 and holds the exhibition “A Coruña Escura” at the Luis Seoane Foundation in November of that same year. Among other issues, her work deals with the idea of time and visual perception in image.
