Aitor Gametxo Zabala (Lekeitio, Bizkaia, 1989) combines traditional narratives and formal experimentation to create films between documentary and fiction. He has directed and written a wide variety of personal works, both individually and collectively, among which are Irudi mintzatuen hiztegi poetikoa (Poetic Dictionary of Spoken Images, 2013, co-directed with Maria Elorza and Maider Fernández Iriarte), Bere bizitzetako bat (One of their lives, 2014), Soinu galduen bila (In search of lost sounds, 2014), The other map of Abauntz (2015, made after winning the X-Films award at the Punto de Vista festival), Distantziak (Distancias, 2015, co-directed with Jesus M. Palacios, Maddi Barber and Cris Ezquerra for Zinebi), Cicha Symfonia (A symphony in silence, 2017, through an artistic residency promoted by the Etxepare Center for Basque Studies and the European capital DSS2016), Beste hamar minutu nagusiago (Another ten minutes older, 2017) and Hemen. Gaur. Berriz (Here. Today. Again, 2020). His works have been screened at international film festivals and in various programs or exhibitions at cultural centers. Since 2017 he has been designing and teaching workshops and experiences related to cinema and mobile imaging.
